the fundamental technique, timing and rhythms of the
Congas and Timbales
We strongly recommend all of our Salsa and Mambo students
take this class, as it will dramatically enhance your
Salsa/Mambo timing and rhythm skills... which will consequently
improve your dancing!
In this exciting hands on class,
you will:
- Learn what the different percussion instruments
do and their importance in Latin music.
- Learn and play the basic pattern of a Salsa,
Merengue and Bolero on an instrument.
- Learn and play the difference between "2-3"
& "3-2" clave.
- Learn how to find the 1 beat and the 2 beat
for dancing.
- Demystify the background on the different
types of music.
- Accurately identify different kinds of Latin
music (Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, etc.)
Latin Rhythms cannot stress enough the importance of
Rhythm and Music Theory. Learning to dance is only half
the battle… understanding the music will help
you grasp the full spectrum that is Latin Dancing.
Special guest instructor, Carlos Santiago of Orquesta
La Unica, breaks down all the fundamental aspects of
Latin Percussion while keeping you entertained with
his relaxed, yet inspiring approach.
