What do you like most about being part of the Latin Rhythms Family?

There are many things I enjoy… but to sum it up in one word...it would be "bonds". The tremendous bonds we all share seem to carry us through all the good times and bad times. Whether it's bonds between dancers in our company, our students, or our many friends, our support network keeps us strong and keeps what we do fun!

What advice would you give to a BEGINNING SALSERO? - - Someone who may, at first, be intimidated to learn salsa... but truly wants to become a great Salsero/Salsera!

You always have to learn to crawl before you can walk. My biggest words of advice would be to always work on mastering the fundamentals and the rest will fall in place. It's tough to be a beginner with so many great dancers out there, but if you keep challenging yourself to take little steps each time you go dancing, you'll be a great dancer. Most importantly… everyone was a beginner at one point so never let that factor intimidate you!

Please give your dance background and technical experience

Most of my training has been with Maricza Valentin of Latin Rhythms since 1999. I have taken miscellaneous workshops in LA, Puerto Rico, and Chicago to continue developing my technique (Salsa/Mambo). I also danced folkloric styles in college including Queca, Colombian & Mexican Cumbia, and Caporales.
